French dietary guidance recommends pulses at least twice a week.
A simple reference point
Manger Bouger recommends pulses at least twice a week, including for their fibre content. Examples include lentils, beans and chickpeas. General guidance does not replace adaptations for an allergy or a prescribed diet.
Idea 1: a cupboard salad
A Malade cooking idea for two: mix one can of cooked chickpeas, drained and rinsed, two chopped tomatoes, some parsley and a tablespoon of olive oil. Add lemon to taste. Serve with bread and adjust quantities to your appetite.
Swap the tomatoes for vegetables you already have, raw or cooked as appropriate. The aim is an easy combination you can make again, not a recipe to follow down to the gram.
Idea 2: rethink a side dish
Add cooked lentils to roasted vegetables or soup. For canned or jarred pulses, follow the storage and preparation instructions on the packaging. For dried products, follow their soaking and cooking instructions, which vary by product.
When shopping, choose two uses rather than two isolated ingredients: “salad on Tuesday” and “soup on Thursday”. These are cooking ideas, not a personalised nutritional calculation.
